Ven. Hyewon(慧謜) got her doctorate from Dongguk University ("Research on Chinese Northern School of Chan"北宗禪硏究). She has published three books, including A Dictionary of Seon Terminology (禪語事典), and translated works such as How to Read Recorded Seon Sayings. She was the dean of the College of Buddhist Studies, and has served as the director of the Korean Buddhist Research Institute. She is currently serving as a professor of the department of Buddhist studies atDongguk, lecturing about the history of Chinese Chan Buddhism, Seon (Chan, Zen) and aesthetics, and related subjects.

David A. Mason has been exploring Korean Buddhism, Korean mountains, and other aspects of traditional Korean culture for over three decades.
